Nintendo has made it clear that the Switch’s online would follow the PSN/ Xbox Live models, and now we have even more details.

Nintendo has released new details regarding the upcoming online service coming to the Nintendo Switch. Much like the PS4 and Xbox One, online for the Switch will fall under a membership plan. The membership plans will offer players similar features as the PSN and Xbox Live with free games, and discounts on the Switch’s store, being offered.

The online plan runs extremely low in price with a year membership only costing $20.

  • 1 month – $4
  • 3 months – $8
  • 12 months – $20

Nintendo also elaborated on the games offered with the subscriptions. Originally, Nintendo claimed that with the online membership you’d get a classic game each month; yet you would only be able to play it that month. Nintendo has since changed this with the “Classic Game Selection” (Name may not be final) which will launch with Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario. Now games offered through the online membership can be accessed as much as you’d like, as long as you have the membership.

The start of the online service has been changed as well. Originally set to start Fall 2017, the Switch online launches in 2018 with the exact date unconfirmed.
