Probably the biggest surprise at Xbox’s Gamescom briefing earlier today was the announcement of Halo Wars 2, a sequel to 2009’s generally well-received Halo Wars. The team behind Halo Wars 2 is none other than Creative Assembly, the developer on the Total War series and more recently Alien: Isolation. They are taking over for Ensemble Studios, who closed their doors after the release of Halo Wars in 2009.

Halo Wars 2 is scheduled for a tentative launch in fall 2016 for both Xbox One and Windows 10. Judging by the track record for Creative Assembly, we expect big things from this title.
