Counter-Strike 2 is coming, and you may be able to play it today!

Counter-Strike 2 has been rumored for quite some time, but Valve has finally confirmed not only it’s existence but a release date and beta. Starting with the most important details, Counter-Strike 2 is not going to be a new game that you’ll have to purchase, rather an upgrade to CS:GO. With that being said, items will transfer over to CS2 so your skins sound perfectly safe at the moment.

With CS2 being an upgrade to CS:GO it may be replacing the original title, akin to Overwatch 2 taking over Overwatch late last year.

Alongside the announcement, Valve showcased three trailers on how CS2 will build upon CS:GO’s look and feel by using the Source 2 engine. According to Valve, community map makers will be able to use the Source 2 engine to try building new maps in the limited beta. They won’t be the only ones in the beta as some players may be getting invites as soon as today.

Counter-Strike 2 is set to release summer 2023.
