A prototype build of the canceled Castlevania: Resurrection for the Dreamcast has appeared online, and preservationists are going wild!

Originally announced for the Sega Dreamcast back in 1999, Resurrection would have followed Sonia Belmont (Castlevania: Legends) in a free-roaming adventure; similar to that of Castlevania 64. As you can guess, Castlevania was delayed and subsequently canceled in March 2000 due to creative differences. While many forgot about the title, it seems as though an early build of the title has been found! User cvr exists posted gameplay of said build over the weekend showing various levels of the game, and what looks to be a level select menu (presumably for testing).

While this doesn’t mean that the game will make a miraculous comeback, especially considering Konami has canned most of its franchises recently, but it is a cool novelty to witness. It’s not very often that canceled games end up reappearing after production ends.
